Question · Offers & pricing

How long after a price increase should I wait before judging the results?

Asked by a founder who'd just raised prices · Answered by ·

The short answer

Give it 60 to 90 days, and don't read much into the first month. Work out your average time to purchase, double it, and that's roughly when the data settles enough to tell you anything.

Customers don’t buy the moment they see you. They browse, sit in your retargeting for a while, and come back weeks later. So the effect of a price change takes a while to work its way through your funnel.

The first month is usually distorted. People who anchored to the old price either rush to buy before it changes, or they see the new price and get sticker shock. If you ran a push before the increase, you’ve probably milked your funnel too. So the month after can look like a drop, and it’s tempting to panic and start changing your bundles or your offer.

Hold off. Two to three months out is when you’re really going to be able to read whether there was any negative impact on conversion. If your customers usually buy within a week or two, you’ll get there sooner. If they take a couple of months to decide, wait longer.
