How much should I spend testing a new Facebook ad offer?

Asked by someone on a client's team · Answered by ·

The short answer

I want at least $1,000 in media behind an offer before I'll read the results, and ideally $3,000 to $5,000. Under that, you won't get significant data, so it's mostly wasted spend.

Treat it as a fixed test with a clear checkpoint. Put the first chunk of budget in and spend it relatively hard, around $100 a day, so you get a read quickly. Hold a second chunk back, and only release it if the first one gets the results you want to see.

That turns it into a simple go or no-go. If you’re an owner watching every dollar, that’s a lot easier to live with than an open-ended drip that never tells you anything.

Where people go wrong is splitting a small budget across several offers at once. If $1,000 is the minimum to learn anything, three offers sharing $1,000 means you learn nothing about any of them. Test one offer at a time. Run them one after another, and if one clearly lands, stick with it.

Running several offers side by side makes sense once you’re spending something like $10k a month across a wide market.
