Question · Email & retention

What should I write about in my e-commerce marketing emails when I run out of ideas?

Asked by a founder who was already running out of things to send · Answered by ·

The short answer

Mine your product and your customers before you invent anything. Reviews, customer stories, FAQs and deep dives on every ingredient or component will give you more emails than you can send.

Start with your customers. Reviews, personal stories, transformations, and the struggles people had before they found you. Reviews alone can carry twenty emails.

Then go to the product. FAQs about the product, the brand and every single ingredient or component. Deep dives on each individual ingredient, including its history, and emails about the scientific studies behind it. Features and benefits, technical specs, the videos already on your website, and how you stack up against competitors.

For each of those things, you could do five emails. If your product has a handful of ingredients, the deep dives alone add up to dozens before you’ve touched anything else.

When you do get stuck, look at what other brands in your category are sending. Get on their lists and see what they talk about. And once a month, run a simple flash offer.
